We’ve come to the end of another long, tiring awards season. The duration of the lead-up to this year’s Oscars feels inversely proportional to the amount of hype around this year’s nominees, another crop of mostly good yet widely underseen movies.
I’m sure when Sunday comes around, I’ll start to get excited and jittery again. But this year’s Oscars ceremony seems designed to antagonize loyal viewers like me. From the decision to present multiple awards before the official telecast to the bizarre list of presenters, I just don’t really know who this show is supposed to be serving. (At least there are hosts…)
But of course, I’ll still be watching, and it’s always fun to have skin in the game by filling out a ballot. I did pretty well last year, getting 20/23 categories correct. So if you’re doing some kind of pool at your watch party and want a little cheat sheet, I’ve got you covered here. I may change some of these picks between now and Sunday because, well, I tend to second guess myself a lot!
