I’m doing something a little different for this week’s main post. (Mostly because I don’t have time to do justice to my originally planned post.) I haven’t directly solicited reader input in a while, largely because my open requests for comments are usually met with crickets. It’s fine, I get it — and thanks to those of you who still reach out and make me feel good.
I’m going to list my 10 favorite line readings in movieslater this week, and I want to know: what are yours? NB: I’m asking about line readings, not lines. If you need an explanation in GIF form, let’s take a look at The Godfather. (I’m not beating the allegations Nora Ephron leveled against my type.)
I am obsessed with this concept! This is the type of feed I want to scroll endlessly through. I love being reminded that certain elements of a film, even a single line, can be so iconic and perfect even if the sum of the parts is not.
“I am naive. I always have been” - Moore, May December
“Let ol’ Trixie sit up front with her big tits.” - Kahn, Paper Moon
"Beyond my control" Glenn Close Dangerous Liaisons
To my great shame, I have never seen it!
